5 Easter Traditions that aren't CANDY

There is so much more to this holiday than processed sugar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, we try to be very intentional about what we are celebrating and why.

Here are 5 ways to change up your Easter egg hunt with less candy:
1) Put spare change in each egg and make a "store" with some bigger items (sidewalk chalk, bubbles, craft supplies) the children can "buy". This is a great way to incorporate math: counting, learning money, and negotiation. (Great for a future Realtor!)
2) Fill eggs with fun things like nail polish, crystals, stickers, finger puppets, balls, or any other small trinkets your kids enjoy. Remember to hide an empty egg to symbolize "He is Risen!"
3) Skip the egg hunt and do a scavenger hunt instead. Or have each egg have a clue that takes you to the next egg with a picnic at the end.
4) After the hunt, use the eggs to do matching activities and learning patterns. Like this or this
5) Spread some joy by "egging" your friends and family.
Get outside and enjoy the fresh air and all the signs of spring, the rebirth of life, and the meaning behind Easter. To you and yours! I hope you have a memory filled Easter holiday.
